Cabin Fever Getaway ~ March 14 thru 16

It seems like Winter is stretching out and will NEVER end. Everyone's stuck inside, keeping to themselves and having no fun.  Well ... I guess they're having fun if they're quilting but they sure aren't socializing! That was pretty obvious on Saturday during our Unruly Girlz meeting ... it was L.O.U.D. with everyone chatting and laughing.

We've made arrangements for a three-day 'no frills' weekend getaway at the Sleep Inn conference center in Eau Claire WI. {715.874.2900} It's the same place we've used before for our Fall retreat.

The cost is $50 plus your room fees ... grab a couple of friends and bunk up to keep the cost down. We're springing for a meal together on Saturday night but the rest of the time, you will have to scrounge up food where ever you can find it ... like 29 Pines restaurant, the latte bar, the pizza place or the convenience store ... all under the same roof. Get your hair cut or your nails done, too if you want. In between quilting, of course.

The retreat will go from 10am on Friday March 14 through 3pm on March 16 ... and then you can go home and celebrate St Pat's Day! Join us ...

Teddy celebrated his 17th birthday a little over a week ago. He is enthralled with the 70's ... says it's the best era because we had the best music and the Civil Rights Movement and everyone got to be hippies and drive VW's. So when I saw this cake in the book at Kowalski's  ... how could I resist?

He has the flower power car sitting right on top of his computer. Still a little boy deep down inside!

Pack your bags!

No ... we're not going on a trip! I just needed some organization in my life.

Almost everything I own ... creatively ... is at the Cottage ... I have very few things to work with at home. And it's frutrating. If I want to go on a retreat or vacation, it takes so long to pack up what I think I'll need. So ... I came up with a plan.

Last Summer, when Bob was cleaning out his parents home, he came across all of these very cool suitcases that his folks owned. {These were the ones that all the pretty dishes were packed in!} Lots of different sizes and shapes and in great condition. Bob cleaned them all up for me to use.

So far, I've manged to use three of them. The one in the background is loaded with scrapbooking paper, stickers and scraps. And this one here was perfect for packing ribbon and trims. I even tied a scissors to one of the flaps inside so I wouldn't have to look for a pair when I needed them! A little vanity case is slowly getting filled with basics ... like adhesives, tools, ink pads. One big square case will be for all the embellishments that I might need someday.

My goal here is to be able to take my creativity with me! And I think it just might work! But boy ... I wonder if I need a bigger car.
